I need a vacation. I want a vacation. I miss my vacation.
A vacation that is in paradise.
My idea of paradise is a pristine tropical island with swaying palm trees, pure white beaches, villas on top of crystal clear green water, coral reefs, colorful fish, endless food and drinks, sunshine, and privacy surrounded by crystalline lagoons of varying shades of blue.
There’s no place on earth I’ve traveled to that is like Maldives, where W and I vegged out in amazing tropical wonderland with picturesque breathtaking view for a week for our honeymoon at Lily Beach Resort & Spa, that was almost a year ago.
Here are several pictures from my trip (taken with my iPhone 4S because I broke my dSLR on the second day of the trip) to inspire you to visit the Maldives one of these days (before the islands disappear maybe within 50 years).
Caught a lightning while on our boat to catch a seaplane to get to the resort.
A doni picked us up at the seaplane dock, that was a few miles away from the resort.
Greeted by a Maldivian drummer.
Our beach villa for the first few night of our stay, where the bathroom is uncovered and the water is just a few footsteps from our patio.
The friendly staff decorated our bed and tub with fresh hibiscus and provided us a bottom of champagne and cake. Making our romantic and unforgettable honeymoon much much much sweeter.
The second half of the trip was extraordinary in a water villa with breathtaking view every morning when we woke up.
Fish kept us company while we used the toilet and shower.
Jacuzzi right on our villa and look at that picturesque view.
Snorkeling right off of our water villa.
Endless coral reefs to look at during low tide. If you look carefully, you could see million of fish.
What we did most during our stay was eat, drink, play in the water, get tan, and vegged out. Is this what true freedom is?
The resort staff has to bring in sand every other day to elevate the island to prevent from sinking…too quickly.
We witnessed a couple got marry at the resort.
Out on a doni to watch sunset.
W and my version of Titanic
Here comes the food portion, just some of the food we ate.
A day of spa on the island was spectacular. While getting massaged, we watched fish and sharks swam back and forth.
Marine life is everywhere just a footstep away from us.
And we will definitely be back…soon.
Maldives is truly heaven on Earth. The real scene is much more amazing. You just have to be there to experience it for yourself.
Where is your paradise?
Have a beautiful day!
simply amazing!! well captured!
Thanks, C! Maybe next time I am there, I will have my DSLR and let’s pray for not breaking it 🙂
Irene…I haven’t been taken away like this in someones post for a very long time. Thank you for the virtual vacation!!! Girl…you had some terrific pictures here! Congrats!
Awww…I am glad you got swept away into paradise 🙂
Hi neversleeping Irene 😉
Lovely pics! I was twice in Maldives, a really lovely place! Although, there are a lot of other awesome places which you could call “paradise”, such as the Seychelles, Los Roques, Madagascar, Iguazù and and and..! One of my favorite’s my home sweet home 😛 🙂
Twice! Lucky you! I heard of Seychelles, Madagascar, and Guam too. Maybe we will get to visit them one day too. So many places to go so little time and money.
But I agree…home is the best. Great point 🙂
Wow. That’s an amazing place. Thanks for the wonderful photos.
And a big shame about breaking the dslr on day 2.
I was heartbroken and so depressed. But thanks for iPhone. Or else I would kill myself 😛
Looks heaven! I want to be on vacay too. 😉 Lovely photos Irene.
Thanks, Anne! We all need some vacation time. Whether it will be in Maldives or some me time, we should all take a break and relax. Hope you will get your vacay soon! xoxo
Irene, this is absolutely a breathtaking place. Your pictures are magnificent. Wow!! I would love to go there 🙂
Judy! Wish you could go there one day. I just have to share because it’s just too gorgeous to keep it to myself.
Beautiful dear! i must get to the Maldives one day! and Bora Bora too!
We were contemplating between Bora Bora and Maldives for the honeymoon. But considering that the islands might be sinking in the next 50 years, we decided. However, we still need to go to Bora Bora to experience the differences 🙂
Exquisite vacation .Fantastic post ,lovely pictures.Wishing both of you many more.jalal vacations
Thank you, Jalal! You are always so sweet.
OHHH EM GEEEE… I need to go there some day. The water looks sooooo beautiful and everything looks delicious! 😀
Yes! I have been telling friends and families to go there ever since we got back. Can’t beat this type of vacation.
Oh my gosh Irene! These photos are spectacular! I especially love your version of the Titanic – so cute. The food, the scenery and oh, that bath tub! I want to go there NOW. 🙂
It was an exceptional mind-blowing experience, especially it was so different than our other vacations (where we would walked and site see a lot). We paid to do nothing 🙂
Wow, nice place. The pics turned out really exceptional. I like that shot looking outside from inside the restaurant. I can feel the breeze…….
So thankful for iPhone or else I wouldn’t have anything left for memory and to share.
wow that looks amazing! i didnt realise maldives was so beautiful, which resort did you stay in?
We stayed at Lily Beach Resort & Spa, which is an island resort about 30-40 minutes of seaplane from the main airport. The resort has nice beach and water villas and one of the best sites for scuba diving.
Beautiful pictures! Gotta keep Maldives in mind for a vacation 🙂
I am thinking working there might not be too bad either…set up my office and blog everyday there 🙂
Looks lovely and posh. I actually have not yet travelled no more exotic than Hawai’i –twice which I enjoyed a lot.
We’re different when we travel since we bike around a lot..or in the winter snowshoe in the mountains to our lodge.
This islands in Maldives are small but you can still bike. You just might be done in 5 minutes 🙂
Hawaii is very nice too…the water is amazingly warm and green there. I was there once…almost 20 years ago. It’s an exotic vacation as well with lots more to do.
What a great collection of honeymoon photos! That looks like a place where I should be right NOW! We’ve been planning to go, but the flight is quite a trek!
Imagine the tranquility you will get once you get there through a long flight, it’s nothing 🙂
This looks unbelievable! Wish I was there.
Pack your bag and let’s go. We all need some “me” time and this place is the place to be 🙂
Wow this looks amazing!! I will have to keep this in mind when thinking about our next trip!
Hi Lauren! Yes, before it’s gone, ought to visit it. I tell myself to work my ass off so I can go back again…haha
Beautiful pictures. Yes, that is a vacation
It sure was…a too-short vacation though. I could see why people would go back and back and back.
Amazing. Just put it on the bucketlist 😉 And verry pretty pictures you have!
So beautiful pictures here! What an awesome resort you stayed at!
